The two trusts
Ealing Hospital NHS Trust
Ealing Hospital NHS Trust manages Ealing Hospital and community health services in Brent, Ealing and Harrow, after being designated one of the country's first NHS integrated care organisations in April 2011. Community health include services such as district nursing, health visiting and physiotherapy.
In 2010/11 the Trust had nearly 100,000 visits to its Emergency Department, maternity staff delivered nearly 3,000 babies, there were194,000 outpatient appointments and 43,000 inpatients. Since April 2011, with community colleagues joining the Trust, it now employs 3,300 staff working at Ealing Hospital and within numerous community bases, including Meadow House Hospice and Clayponds Rehabilitation Unit.
The North West London Hospitals NHS Trust
The North West London Hospitals NHS Trust manages Northwick Park and St Mark's hospitals in Harrow and Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal.
The Trust cares for more than half a million people living in Brent and Harrow, as well as patients from all over the country and internationally at St Mark's, a specialist hospital for bowel diseases. The Trust is one of the biggest and busiest NHS trusts in the capital.
More than 4,300 doctors, nurses, therapists, scientists and other health professionals, as well as administrative and support staff, work for the Trust, making it one of the largest employers in North West London.
Both trusts are centres for undergraduate and postgraduate education, teaching many nurses, doctors and other health professionals each year. Their principal partners are Imperial College London, Thames Valley University and Buckinghamshire New University.
