The orthodontics department is a regional service and is part of the Trust's oral and maxillio-facial surgery department. We welcome referrals from GPs, dentists and specialist orthodontists from all areas of north west London and surrounding counties.

Description of service

We offer orthodontic care for the most severe and complex malocclusions (misaligned teeth).

We have a wealth of experience in:

  • Orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery to correct conditions of the jaw and face related to structure, growth, sleep apnoea, or to correct orthodontic problems that cannot be easily treated with braces)
  • Severe hypodontia (naturally having fewer than the regular number of teeth)
  • Surgical and orthodontic management of impacted teeth (buried teeth) as well as misalignment of teeth due to dental and oral cavity trauma
  • Sleep apnoea (sleep apnea)
  • Snoring disorders.

Priority is given to patients needing multi-disciplinary orthodontic management involving maxillofacial surgery and restorative dentistry.

Our dental laboratory constructs appliances and prostheses on site.

The department consists of four part time consultants with specialist registrars on training rotation from The Royal London Hospital. We are a recognized unit for training specialist registrars, FTTAs and nursing auxillaries.
