Endoscopy
St Mark's Endoscopy Unit is an internationally renowned centre of excellence for colorectal procedures and related research. It was the first centre in London to be accredited as a 'bowel cancer screening centre'.
The unit has five procedure rooms and state-of-the-art equipment for performing cutting edge techniques. The unit also has two simulators to allow training of endoscopists and Imager Colonoscopes to allow training of junior endoscopists both doctors and nurses. There is also a small unit at Central Middlesex Hospital.
Description of service
The unit performs around 11,000 procedures a year including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, bronchoscopy and ERCP. Many of these include theraputic procedures. Eg. endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) stenting, dilatation, endoscopic submucosal disection(ESD) narrow band imaging. The Unit has also developed a Video Capsule Endoscopy and Double Balloon Enteroscopy (DBE) Service.

The Endoscopy Unit is based on Level 3 at St Mark's Hospital.
Central Middlesex Hospital
The Endoscopy Unit is in the ACAD building at the back of Central Middlesex Hospital.
