Bowel scope screening will be piloted by St Mark's Hospital in June 2013. All men and women aged between 55 and 60 who live in Brent, Harrow and parts of Ealing will automatically be sent an invite to attend a free bowel scope screen.
Bowel scope screening prevents colorectal cancer by detecting and removing adenomatous polyps in the rectum and sigmoid colon. People with high risk polyps are invited for subsequent colonoscopy.
