STARRS - Harrow
STARRS Harrow has launched
Our reconfigured intermediate care service in Harrow is called STARRS (short-term assessment, rehabilitation and re-ablement service). The new STARRS service comprises:
• a rapid response service - which assesses patients within two hours of referral who are in urgent need and at risk of admission into hospital (service times below)
• early supported discharge - facilitating early discharge for patients in hospital by providing hospital-at-home services in the community
• short term rehabilitation - providing neurological and general rehabilitation at home within 72 hours of referral
The new STARRS service encompasses services previously provided by the acute discharge team (ADT), healthcare and rehabilitation team (HART), falls team and the physical disability support team (PDST).
The new STARRS service will
• ensure easy access for referrers
• avoid unnecessary hospital admissions
• reduce hospital length of stay
• provide a prompt community rehabilitation service
• improve patient and carers’ satisfaction
