Visiting and general information
Visiting
Your friends and relatives are welcome to visit you. Please see our information for visitors regarding visiting times.
Interpreters
The Trust has a comprehensive interpreting service. If you have difficulty in speaking or understanding English, please let a member of staff know as soon as possible so that they can arrange an interpreter for you.
Teaching
The Trust is an education centre for doctors, nurses and other health care professionals. You may occasionally be asked whether you would be willing to take part in a teaching activity attended by medical students or student nurses. You would be playing a very important part in the teaching process of the hospital, but if you do not wish to take part, please let us know, we will understand.
No smoking policy
As with all public buildings since 1 July 2007, it is illegal to smoke in our hospitals. Nicotine patches are available for our patients in some circumstances and the nurse in charge will be happy to give you more information if you feel that you would benefit from them.
Additionally, for your health and the health of those around you, the Trust also operates a no smoking policy in its grounds. You may not smoke in the grounds of our hospitals. Anyone doing so will be asked to extinguish their cigarette.
Advice on how to stop smoking is available by calling 0800 169 0169.
Advice and support
If you have any concerns or queries about your care that you do not feel can be dealt with by the staff who are treating you, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), who will be happy to help you.
