NHS hospital transport
The Trust provides some transport for patients who have a clinical condition which makes it difficult or impossible for them to attend hospital without help.
Eligibility for NHS transport to and from hospital
Patients are entitled to NHS transport if they require the following:
- a stretcher or wheelchair
- oxygen, suction or other medical attention on their journey
- physical support - for example when getting out of and into their home.
Eligibility for NHS transport is not provided on the basis of your financial status or the distance you have to travel. Some patients can, however, get assistance with the cost of fares please see our page on the NHS Hospital Travel Costs Scheme.
