15-Nov-2011
Three nurses from Northwick Park Hospital have organised an exhibition to warn people about mouth cancer this month.
Sapna Mandalia, works in the Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery department along with colleagues Nikitika Ghimire and Jocelyn Roberts (pictured).
The nurses have worked with each other for around three years and decided to put on the exhibition for Mouth Cancer awareness month.
Ms Mandalia said: “We wanted to raise awareness of the dangers of this cancer.
“We have a dentist who will be there on the day to advise people. We have created our own posters as well as using pictures that have been given to us to show what happens when you have this type of cancer.
“People who smoke and especially in this community chew on betel nuts and tobacco need to be aware of what this can do to them.
“I hope people come and visit us here so they can learn how important it is know about this type of cancer and can pass on what they have learnt.”
The event will be held at the Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery department at Northwick Park Hospital between 10am and 3pm on Friday, November 25.
