Trust meets all CQC care and treatment standards

19-Aug-2011

Our Trust is meeting all the essential standards of quality and safety, according to an annual review by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Most of the patients the CQC spoke to were happy with their care and the way staff treated them. For example, one older patient said: “I love the nurses, they make such a fuss of me”, and another said: “I feel that they do care.”

A third patient said care went beyond her expectations: “My husband was dying at another hospital and they arranged for a special taxi to take me there to visit him. I didn’t ask for it, they organised it.”

Patients generally had trust and confidence in the health professionals caring for them and said treatment was clearly explained. In addition, the Trust was described as very clean by everyone the CQC spoke to. Some patients also said the food was very good or very nice.

The review concluded that hospital premises were generally suitable to work in and safe and accessible to patients and visitors.

However, on the wards there was the potential for water from the shower to splash and create a slippery toilet floor, putting some patients at risk of falls. The Trust has a plan in place to address this.
