St Mark's leads the way with new bowel cancer research

St Mark's Hospital has made national headlines after research about a bowel cancer screening breakthrough made national news.
The research, published in The Lancet, found a single examination of the bowel using a tube-mounted camera could cut bowel cancer deaths by up to 43 percent among people over 55. The examination – called a flexible sigmoidosopy – is regularly carried out at St Mark's, where some of the research was carried out. St Mark's Hospital also hosts the London bowel cancer screening programme and is internationally renowned for its research and treatment of bowel cancer.
