Northwick Park venue for major MRSA conference

Northwick Park Hospital is the venue for a national symposium on screening for MRSA in hospitals and the community this week.
The conference, to be held at the hospital on Friday, 17 July, is organised by the national Health Protection Agency in partnership with The North West London Hospitals NHS Trust, which manages the hospital.
Leading speakers include the Trust’s Director of Infection Prevention and Control, Liz Robb, who will open the conference, and Dr Gopal Rao, consultant microbiologist, who is talking about screening residents of care homes for the infection.
Other speakers come from the Department of Health, Health Protection Scotland, University Hospital Lewisham, Harrow PCT and the Health Protection Agency, Yorkshire.
• North West London Hospitals NHS Trust has reduced its MRSA infection rates by 50 per cent over the last two years, and its C. Diffficile rates by 40 per cent over the last 12 months.
