Information is power - new leaflets launched to help the fight against infections

19-Jan-2009

Six new leaflets have been launched by bug busters at The North West London Hospitals NHS Trust to provide staff, patients and visitors with facts and advice about infections

Director of Infection Prevention and Control at the Trust, Elizabeth Robb, said: “There are lots of things staff, patients and visitors can do to help us to reduce the spread of infections which is why we have launched these new leaflets to ensure people have access to the right information.

“We hope the leaflets will be widely used by staff and given to patients and relatives. They are designed to help answer the common questions people may have about infections in hospitals but also so they know what they can do to help.”

The leaflets, developed by the Trust’s infection control team, cover the facts about Norovirus, MRSA, Clostridium difficile, hand washing, infections in hospital and advice on laundering patients’ clothing.

The leaflets will be making their way to wards and information points across the Trust’s hospitals - Northwick Park, St Mark’s and Central Middlesex - over the coming weeks. They are also on the website.
