Park Royal Landmark project

NWLH Arts is looking to commission the artist/architect Nick Coombe to realise the Park Royal Landmark project.

The Park Royal Landmark project will fuse the barriers between arts and science, and uniquely address the ‘Mutation’ of DNA.

Park Royal is one of the most deprived areas in the UK. This project will introduce arts and science to the multi-cultural communities in Brent, Ealing and Harrow and be viewed from both land and sky.

Park Royal Landmark’s concept won first prize in an RIBA competition – awarded at the House of Commons.

The partners for this project are the Sanger Institute in Cambridge, The Kennedy Galton Centre at North West London Hospitals NHS Trust, Park Royal Partnership and Philips Lighting, all will be instrumental in the development process.

Sanger Institute

The Sanger institute which is working at the forefront of DNA genetics has agreed to participate in the Park Royal Landmark Project development.

The Sanger has appointed scientists to mentor Nick Coombe’s artistic interpretation of DNA development, which will formulate the Park Royal Landmark installation.

The Park Royal Landmark installation is the progression from Nick Coombe’s RIBA award winning design for the elipse, which sits at the entrance of Central Middlesex Hospital.

Philips Lighting

NWLH Arts met with the CEO of Philips Lighting, there has now been an agreement that Philips will provide both the consultancy and the lighting for the Park Royal Landmark installation project at no cost to NWLH Arts.
