Atrium

Celebrated international artist, Susanna Heron worked with Central Middlesex hospital architects HLM and Avanti, the Bouygues Consortium – the project’s construction and maintenance partner – and the Hospital Trust to develop a unique series of etched window panels.
A project of excellence, the installation is completely integrated with the new building’s architecture. The etched glass enthralls its audience, creating delicate images to enhance people’s journey through the hospital's magnificent atrium.
“‘Window’ was created to bring a sense of quiet contemplative calm to the hospital entrance. It addresses the division between the garden and the entrance atrium. As it catches the changing light it casts shadows across the mullions and the space, its diaphanous imagery integrating with the view to the garden beyond.”
