Trust Non-executive Director re-appointed

Non-executive Director Shelagh Szulc has been re-appointed to The North West London Hospitals NHS Trust for the next two years.

The Trust manages three hospitals – Northwick Park, St Mark’s and Central Middlesex – caring for half a million people in the boroughs of Brent and Harrow and beyond. The Trust is one of the biggest acute providers in the capital.

Shelagh Szulc has lived in Harrow and Brent for 20 years and works for Veredus on recruitment and HR assignments across the public sector. She is also an Independent Panellist for the Judicial Appointments Commission and undertakes independent Human Resources consultancy assignments specialising in organisational change. She was previously Director of Recruitment and Diversity at the London Borough of Ealing and Head of Human Resources at the London Borough of Brent. She lives in Harrow and is a Governor at secondary schools in Harrow and Hertfordshire. Duties include: Chair of Governance and Risk Committee, Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion Committee and HR Committee and membership of Patient and Public Involvement and Partnership Committee.

Shelagh Szulc joined the Trust in 2007 and has been re-appointed from 1st December 2010 to 30th November 2012. She has declared that she has not participated in any political activity in the last five years. Each non-executive director receives an annual remuneration of £6,096.

All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Mrs Szulc has declared no political activity. She was appointed to the Judicial Appointments Commission, Ministry of Justice in 2004 where she receives a daily rate of £270.

The appointment has been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments Code of Practice.
