29-Sep-2009
Staff and patients at Northwick Park Hospital were joined for a well earned coffee break by the mayors of Brent and Harrow on Friday, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The annual Macmillan coffee morning is a national event and this year raised over £2000 across the Trust. Northwick Park Hospital hosts a Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre at its main entrance. There is also a Macmillan Cancer Unit located within the hospital where team of specialist nurses provide support and care for patients with cancer at all stages of their illness.
Macmillan Co-ordinator Naina Poonja organised the event. She said: “I had a target to raise more than last year and we have smashed it. I had at lot of help from colleagues and volunteers to make this a success and I am very grateful to all of them.
“The cake sale and raffle were very popular with staff and patients alike, even the local Mayors Cllr Jim O’Sullivan and Cllr Eric Silver popped in for a cup of tea and slice of cake before they were taken for a tour of the cancer services offered by the hospital”.
Macmillan cancer support improves the lives of people affected by cancer, by providing practical, medical and financial support.
